This is a short story I made about history using story bird. I liked this website and I think I would have students make their own stories because they could be very creative and have a lot of fun using story bird.
I really like using prezi more than powerpoint because I think students get sick of watching powerpoints all the time, especially in a history classroom. The movements are fun and the colors are eye catching. This is a prezi I made on King Henry VIII for one of my history lessons. I think prezi is easy to use and students would enjoy using it to make their own presentations.
This is an animoto I did on my favorite music group, the Beatles. I would use animoto in my classroom to introduce a historical event or person. I think this is a fun and attention grabbing activity and I think students would like watching it as well as making their own.
This is a Jeopardy game I found that I would use in my classroom for a review activity or game to study for a test or review what we learned that day or in a unit of study. I know this game goes over well and students generally enjoy playing it.
This is a notetaking site that I used as a blog setting. I asked the students to give three examples of vocab words they had learned as well as their meanings. I placed some examples of how the students would respond. I like this idea as extra practice for vocab or studying events. I really like this idea of communication between the teacher and the students. I used wallwisher, or padlet to create this board and I can see myself using this in the future because it was easy, fun, and I think students would like this as well.
This is a short survey I made asking questions about World War II. I created the survey as a sort of anticipatory set that can be used in the beginning of the class as a way to set up for a lesson to be taught later and in more detail.
This is a survey I made for an education class when I was doing a presentation on cell phones in the classroom. As you can see 13 people responded to the poll by using their phones to text in an answer. I really like polleverywhere.com to use in the classroom and I could see myself using this everday with my students. I have used this several times before and it is always popular with students especially high school age.
This is a newsletter that I wrote if I had a real classroom. I think writing newsletters at least at every quarter is a good idea so that parents can stay connected. I would also consider doing an online newsletter though that I could continually update.
This is a word cloud I made for the American Revolution. I would use this site in my classroom to have the students look up words on a topic we were going to start so they could get an idea of what the event or person was about. I would also use this as an anticipatory activity in my classroom to engage the students attention and make them want to learn more about the topic.
Word Search Puzzle
I made a word search puzzle using puzzlemaker.com but I could not get the URL to work on wikispaces, to take you back to the puzzle I made, so I printed it out and will give it to you.
This is a short 10 question quiz I made with Spanish phrases. I liked this website and the tests were easy to make and navigate. I would use a website in my classroom to make tests or quizzes like this.
Here is a rubric I made which would be used for a research project of report. I would use this in a high school or middle school history classroom if the students were working on a research paper.
These are two videos I found from one of my favorite youtube channels called Crash Course. They have several different topics but I use the history videos which are short videos that give a "crash course" into certain events, aspects, or eras in American and World history. I like these because they are fun, entertaining, short, and engaging videos to show in the classroom. I would show these in both high school and middle school classrooms.
